British Grand Prix: Verstappen takes pole as McLaren shine
Max Verstappen claimed a dominant pole position for Red Bull at the British Grand Prix, with Lando Norris putting McLaren second.
Verstappen, who has won six of the last seven races, made it five poles in a row with a stunning final lap at Silverstone.
The Dutchman was over half a second clear of Norris, who produced a brilliant performance to secure McLaren's best qualifying result of the season so far.
Lewis Hamilton will start third for Mercedes, with his team-mate George Russell sixth.
Carlos Sainz was fourth for Ferrari, with Charles Leclerc seventh.
The session was overshadowed by a huge accident for Alex Albon, who crashed heavily at Turn 7.
The Williams driver was taken to hospital for precautionary checks, but the team later said he was "conscious and well".
The incident brought out the red flags, with qualifying suspended for over half an hour.
When the session resumed, Verstappen was the man to beat.
The Dutchman set a blistering pace, with Norris emerging as his closest challenger.
Hamilton could not match Verstappen's pace, but he did enough to secure third place ahead of Sainz.
Russell was sixth, with Fernando Alonso seventh for Alpine.
The race will take place on Sunday at 3pm BST.
